Twelve-Sided Mace

In my previous post, I showed how I built a battle axe out of EVA foam. It was the first time I made a weapon out of this stuff, and it turned out great. In fact, I already had some people ask me if I could build one for them! At this moment, I don't have time for that, but maybe in the future.
Anyway, the axe was for my girlfriend. We attended Elf Fantasy Fair as dwarves, and we both needed some kick ass weapons. For myself, I built something else: a mace. I used the same techniques I used for the battle axe, and the handle is pretty much the same, so I won't be talking about that.
The mace head is shaped like a 12-sided die, a nice reference to role playing games like Dungeons and Dragons.

Battle Axe

This is the first EVA foam weapon I made. It's part of the Dwarven outfit my girlfriend and me are making. Far from finished, but this weapon is a nice start!

Magnetic sketchbook

I finished another sketchbook! Not a Necronomicon-type book this time, I decided to try something new. I wanted to make a book with some sort of clasp to keep it closed. I didn't want to use one of those brass clasps you can buy at art stores, though. Instead, I used magnets!

I bought a pack of neodymium disc magnets on Ebay, and embedded them in the cover and the clasp. Neodymium magnets are the strongest type of permanent magnet available; they are more than strong enough to keep the book closed.

Dwarven Boots

Yay, finally another blog post! It's been quite a while, I know. The past few months, we have been very busy in our new house. My girlfriend and me bought a house and sold our apartment, we now finally have enough space for all our hobbies. With all the painting and moving and unboxing finally (more or less) behind us, I started making some cool stuff again!
Some of my very first projects on this blog were my Dwarven hammer and helmet. Now, I made a pair of matching boots. This is my first project using EVA (ethyl vinyl acetate) foam, a material that's very popular for making all sorts of armour.

The Haunter of the Dark re-cover

It's been a while since my last re-cover of a paperback book. My previous attempt went ok, but not as good as I had hoped. In the meantime, I made a few more sketchbooks and I improved my skills. So a while ago, I bought a compilation of Lovecraft stories on Ebay and started working on a custom cover.

For this project, I tried something I never tried before: lino printing. I also put my (still very basic) calligraphy skills to work again for the title.

Two more sketchbooks

I made two more sketchbooks this week, another Necronomicon and a Spellbook-themed one. I won't do a full build log about them, only a short description.
Both books are A5 sized, and have 100 pages of 100 gram/sqm drawing paper. They are for sale in my Etsy store.

Baldur's Gate sketchbook

Here's another sketchbook tutorial! No Necronomicon this time, I have already made enough of those. This time, it will be video game/RPG themed. I don't play video games anymore, simply because I don't have time for that, but in the past I was into RPG's big time. My favourite game of all time is and always will be Baldur's Gate, so I decided to make a Baldur's Gate themed sketchbook.
